Price of sacrificial animal skins reduces by 20 to 29 percent

The price of sacrificial animal skins has been reduced by 20 to 29 percent this Eid.
Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi announced the price at a meeting with rawhide traders in a zoom meeting held on Sunday (July 26th).
The price of salted cow skin in Dhaka has been fixed at Tk 35 to 40 per square feet and outside Dhaka at Tk 28-32. Apart from this, the price of goat skin has been fixed at Tk 13-15 and Tk 10 to 12 in the whole country.
Presided over by Commerce Secretary Zafar Uddin, Entrepreneurs, traders, exporters and representatives of law enforcement agencies of the leather sector were present at the meeting.
The Commerce Minister said the demand in the domestic and international markets has been taken into consideration in setting the prices. Besides, the world market is likely to shrink due to Coronavirus. So considering everything, the price has been set lower than last time.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce has adopted a comprehensive monitoring plan to monitor the purchase, sale, collection, storage, storage and application of salts in the skins at fixed prices.
In implementing this plan, Ministry of Commerce consists of Central Joint Coordinating Committee, Central Coordinating and Monitoring Committee, Control Room, Special Monitoring Team for Dhaka and Natore districts, Monitoring team comprising of departments / agencies under the Ministry of Commerce for divisional and district and officials of Consumer Protection Department at all district level.
