The number of corona infected people in Kushtia stands at 1046. Though no patient was detected on Saturday, but medical experts’ fear that this amount will double in the district in the month comes. In the previous 24 hours, 43 more were affected in the district. A doctor died. Now the death toll is 22.
Tapas Kumar Sarkar, resident medical officer (RMO) of Kushtia General Hospital said the present increasing is not a good sign. He told that it will be seen from the center point on March 22 that whenever the number of people in the district has increased. It was witnessed before last Eid. Sadly, the same thing is might going to be happened again before this Eid.
Dr. Tapas also blames the lack of awareness among the masses for the catastrophe.
The problem is that the crowds have increased due to the opening up of trade and commerce in the town. But the question is how long it is possible to keep business closed. The lifeblood of the small district is largely depended on the small and medium business. This business is also a part of the livelihood of a large part of the people.
AMM Roknuzzaman, a computer trader and director of the Kushtia Chamber of Commerce, said it was important to know what could be the business alternative if Covid-19 had to be reduced by keeping business closed.
He said the traders have opened the business by creating a conscious environment. It is possible to create a good environment only if the people come forward consciously.
Haji Rabiul Islam, president of Kushtia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, thinks the disease is contagious. If we are not aware of each other, the war against the virus would be successful.
He said many have been infected from home. How have they been? The thing is, it depends on whether one person is going to touch another infected person.
He advised everyone to follow the rules consciously.
