A couple has poisoned together at Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah district.
Husband Saiful Islam died soon after he took poison while his wife Laili Khatun now out of danger after treatment.
The incident took place at Baliadanga village in the municipal area of the upazila on Friday. Saiful Islam is age of 65, while his wife was 52.
Their conjugal life was around 40 years.
Saiful’s daughter Marina Khatun said that her father used to quarrel with her mother. The same thing happened on Friday night.
Over the quarrel, when his father got poisoned around 10 pm, her mother did the same. When the incident came to light, the neighbors rescued them and took to Shailkupa Health Complex.
Her father died at 12pm and his mother was undergoing treatment at the hospital, Marina told.
Officer-in-charge of Shailkupa Police Station Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter.
