Legendary vocalist Andrew kishore has passed away. He fought a drawn-out battle for survival. But could not. He has surrendered himself to the infallible laws of nature.
With his death, a well-known, very popular chapter of Bangladeshi music came to an end.
Andrew returned to the country by air ambulance on June 11 after undergoing treatment in Singapore for 9 consecutive months. Since then, he had been staying to his sister Shikha Biswas’s house at Mahishabathan area of Rajshahi.
Andrew’s sister’s husband was looking his. However, before returning from Singapore, doctors there said that the artist would live from one month to a maximum of one year. After receiving such information, Andrew Kishore returned to his hometown Rajshahi in silence.
He was 65 years old at the time of his death. He was born on 4 November 1955 in Rajshahi.
In addition to his wife Iti Kishore, the artist’s son J. Andrew Saptak and daughter Minim Andrew live in Australia.
Andrew is known as the ‘Emperor of the Playback’. His evergreen voice has gifted countless popular romantic songs in the land.
The playback journey of Andrew Kishore started in 1977 with Alam Khan’s tune ‘Mail Train’.
The number of his songs in play-back is more than 15 thousand.
In addition to his reputation at home and abroad, he has also received a lot of respect. He has won eight National Film Awards for his contribution to Bengali film songs.
Regarding his last days, wife Lipika Andrew wrote in a post on her husband’s Facebook on Sunday night, “Now Kishore doesn’t talk. He lies down quietly with his eyes closed. I say what I think, say, ‘Nothing, remember the old words and tell God to take me quickly, don’t pain me too much’.
Lipika further writes about her husband, “This is the last post, after this I will not have the mental state to say or write anything. It still seems like a nightmare sometimes, I won’t be a Kishore, but I will be, I can’t accept it. ”
