Government to recruit 26000 pre-primary teachers in first phase

Government will appoint 26,000 pre-primary teachers in the first phase. If the situation in the country is normal, the process may start in next two to three months. Meanwhile, several steps have already been taken to start pre-primary activities.
A source in the Ministry of Education said work on curriculum, teacher recruitment, teaching materials and infrastructure for the pre-primary level is almost complete. At present, pre-primary level students are admitted in some schools of the country but no teachers of this level have been appointed. For this a new post of pre-primary teacher has been created.
According to the source, a proposal was sent to the Ministry of Public Administration to create 26,000 teacher posts. The proposal was approved by the Secretary Committee. It has been approved in the cabinet meeting.
“Since one pre-primary teacher post has been created in each school, teacher recruitment activities will be started soon, said a highly placed source in the ministry.
Meanwhile, recently the period of pre-primary education was changed from one year to two years. The age limit for admission at this level has been approved for four years instead of previous five years. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has approved the proposal.
After the PM’s approval, it will be introduced in 5,000 schools of the country as a pilot which have optimal infrastructure. For this, two teachers from all the schools of the country have been trained. After piloting, pre-primary level will be opened in all schools of the country in phases.
