In Bittipara, Kushtia Sadar Upazila, the conflict between two groups to form the Eidgah Committee turned into a clash during yesterday’s Eid prayers. There, both sides clashed. Seven people were eventually injured in the clash.
OC Tarek of the Investigation of the Islamic University Police Station said that first there was a fist fight, then a hard fight. One person was seriously injured. And the less were comparably less. Police were deployed in the village. The two sides did not come to a conclusion. However, the situation was under police control.
According to the sources, the conflict between two social groups over the spread of influence in Bittipara village is very old. Recently, there was a disagreement between the two sides regarding the village Eidgah committee. Ujangram Union Awami League General Secretary Abu Bakkar Siddique is leading on one side, and Bittipara Ward Awami League President Abul Hossain is on the other. Among them was a proposal to form a committee after the Eid prayer. But around 7:30 am in a meat shop, there was an argument, which eventually resulted in a fight between the two workers, Rashid and Jamal.
As a result, people from Bakka’s group were beaten up. Later, around 8:30 a.m., fierce clashes broke out between two groups of people over the possession of the Eidgah for the Eid prayers. Joad Mandal, Abdullah, Shaheen, and Babu of the Bakkar group, and Raja and Mintu of the Hussain member group, were injured there.
The condition of the injured Joad Mandal was critical. He was hacked with the intention of death with a sharp weapon. Five people, including Joad, have been admitted to Kushtia General Hospital.
Kushtia Additional Superintendent of Police Palash Kanti Nath said that the culprits will be arrested.
