A farmer was hacked to death by convicts in Nawada Khadimpur village under Mirpur upazila in Kushtia in the early period of Monday.
The deceased was identified as Rabiul Islam Rabi, aged 48, who is the son of the late Muktar Biswas of the Gangpara area of the village.
The deceased was apparently sleeping in his home at night, said his elder brother, Ismail Hossain.
The miscreants entered the house, where he was sleeping, at around 12:30 am and stabbed him multiple times, as a result, he was seriously wounded.
His relatives rescued him and admitted him to Kushtia General Hospital. He died around 6:30 am when he was on the way to the Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for improved treatment.
Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police Station, who is, Rafiqul Islam said that some people are being questioned, in link with the killing.
The body of the deceased was conducted to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for post-mortem, he also added.
