The total 63159 voters will exercise their votes in upcoming Zilla Parishad elections (except three hill districts). Among them 14 thousand 923 women and 48 thousand 236 are men.
The election management wing of the EC said the number of posts in general wards are 463 and 172 reserved ward member posts. There are 61 chairman posts. Voting for this election will be held in 955 polling booths of 477 polling stations.
As per the schedule, the elections will be held on October 17.
The election management wing of the EC said that 162 people filed nomination papers for the post of chairman. After the selection, 142 people were approved. Besides, 1 thousand 983 people filed nomination papers for the post of general member. Among them, 1 thousand 744 people got legalized. And 715 people submitted their nomination papers for reserved membership. Among them, 675 people got legalized.
Meanwhile, 26 candidates among 61 in the post of chairman 66 have been elected unopposed. Besides, 66 candidates for general membership and 19 candidates for reserved membership were elected unopposed.
It is a non-partisan election, voting will be held through electronic voting machines.
