Islamic University (IU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Sheikh Abdus Salam said the creation of Rabindranath Tagore were rich and the creation has generated an authoritative unity that does not draw any line on thinking in religion-caste-creed. He brought Bengali literature to the ranks of world literature with his own thoughts and reached the peak of excellence.
Professor Salam said this in his speech as the chief guest at an international seminar on “Tagore and His Legacy in the Arab World” organized by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature of Islamic University on Wednesday.
The seminar was held at Gagan Harkara Gallery of Rabindra Nazrul Kola Bhaban of the University.
He told that all genres of Bengali literature are rich in writings Rabindranath. It is at his hands that Bengali literature gets a new form, thinking which brings a rare honour in the world arena. Rabindranath alone has his own folk in Bengali literature that gives Bengali literature a great height.
He said he was the first among the learned and distinguished people of Asia to win Nobel award.
Chairman of Arabic language and literature department Professor Dr. Abdul Mottalib chaired the event. The event was graced as a special guest by university treasurer Professor Dr. Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan. Former chairman of the Arabic and Persian Department of Kolkata University Professor Dr. Israt Ali Mollah was key discussant.
Professor Dr. Tozammel Hossain of the department conducted the seminar.

Kamrul Hasan, Professor Dr. Md. Rafiqul Islam spoke.
