Gold bars worth Tk 6 crore seized in Chuadanga border

Border Guard Battalion (BGB) recovered gold bars worth around Tk 6 crore at Chuadanga border. The border guard confined the reported carrier of the gold.
Chuadanga-6 Border Guard Battalion seized the gold bars from the Nastipur village of Damurhuda upazila border of the district today (15 September).
The recovered 58 gold bars weigh 9 kg 860 grams which estimated value is 6 crore 60 lakh 35 thousand 740 taka.
Chuadanga-6 BGB Director Shah Md. Ishtiaq confirmed the matter.
The BGB officer told that after getting information from sources, a BGB troop took position near the graveyard of Nastipur village around 11 am. They had information that someone on a motorcycle would take the gold to the border area for smuggling to India.
At around 1125am, BGB members found the motorcyclist and chased him. The man tried to escape on the motorcycle and was caped.
The detained Rakibul Islam (35) is the son of Abdul Hai of Nastipur village of the upazila.
The BGB officer said Rakibuls motorcycle was searched and thegold bars were seized from under the seat.
The seized gold was deposited in the Chuadanga Treasury.
The arrestee has been handed over to Darshana police station along with a case.
