Another employee has succumbed the burn injury after 26 days of struggle from the fire incident at a filling station in Kushtia’s Bheramara upazila.
The deceased was identified as Bidyut Hossain (25), son of Billal Hossain of Parankhali area of Juniadah union of Bheramara upazila. He was working as an accountant in that petrol pump.
He died on Tuesday (September 6) around 2 am while undergoing treatment at the Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.
With this, the death toll in the fire has reached 5.
Mahabul Islam, cousin of the deceased Bidyut, confirmed the death.
On August 12, the incident of the fire occurred.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bheramara Police Station Mojibur Rahman said that five people have died in the incident so far.
According to OC the last deceased was undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery with severe electrocution injuries. Total 17 percent of his body was burnt in the fire.
On the evening of August 12, a terrible fire broke out at Dafadar filling station in Mahishadora area of Bheramara upazila due to a short circuit. Shahajul (35) son of Shahajuddin of Dighalkandi village of the upazila and Bijay (16) son of Touhidul Islam in the same area were killed on the spot.
Total 7 person were got burn injury from the fire.
The others injured were admitted to Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute. One of the injured Rajib Uddin (25) died on August 15. Later, on August 18, a teenager named Rimon (14), son of deceased Joynal of Dighalkandi village of Daulatpur upazila.
OC Mojibur said some others are still in undergoing treatment.
No one has been arrested in the incident as no one has been charged in the fire incident. However, he said police is investigating the matter.
