Police could not arrest any of the masterminds of Jatyia Samajtantrik Dal’s (JSD) youth forum Jatyia Jubo Jote leader Mahabub Khan Salam murder.
Police arrested three people accused the in the case. But no progress has been made to arrest the mastermind behind the killing extracting any information from the arrestees.
A case was been filed in connection with the killing in Daulatpur upazila in Kushtia. Enamul Haque, father of slain Mahabub Khan Salam, filed the murder case with Daulatpur Police Station on Friday (May 13) night. Total 22 people were accused in the case in name and more unnamed 8-9 people have been made accused.
All the accused are leaders and activists of ruling Awami league and its various front organisations.
According to the case, Mahbub was returning home from Alla Dargah Bazar in a local engine made van around 11 pm on Wednesday (May 11). He was accompanied by two other activists of Jubo Jote. As soon as he reached Bayan More near his house, a group of 15/20 criminals swooped on them. The criminals indiscriminately chopped the three.
They were rescued to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Kushtia General Hospital. Where Salam died at about 1.20:am.
Daulatpur Upazila Awami League (AL) joint secretary Selim Choudhury, his brother AL executive committee member of the same committee and former district council member Asaduzzaman Loton Chowdhury, another brother Token Choudhury, president of Daulatpur upzila unit Awami Jubo Leageu, Poloton Choudhury, Tushon Choudhury and sawapn Choudhury.
All are also brother of former lawmaker of Kushtia-1 Rezaul Haq Choudhury.
When contacted, Selim Choudhury told to the Daily Star that the case is totally a ‘social conspiracy’ against our family and politically motivated. They will fight the case legally.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police station Jabid Hasan said three accused named Sohan, Najibul and Mehedi have already been arrested.
The operation to arrest the rest continues.
