Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Kushtia rescues a man reportedly went into self-disappeared 5 years ago.
Besides, the man’s father filed a case of murder and disappearance against his father-in-law’s family after his missing.
Today (Tuesday) PBI Kushtia Superintendent of Police Shahid Abu Sarwar told it in a press release.
The man was identified as Rakibuzzaman Ripon, 30, son of Monirul Islam of Govipur (Dattapara) village in Sadar upazila of Meherpur district.
According to the press release, Ripon was married to Shyamoli Khatun, daughter of Akbar Ali of Bharat village of Meherpur’s Gangni upazila in January 2017. After marriage, he had been living in his father-in-law’s house. On July 8, 2017, Ripon left the house saying that he was going to visit his sister’s house. Ripon had been missing since then.
Meanwhile, Ripon’s father Monirul filed a murder and disappearance case against Shyamoly, her father, mother and an uncle on October 15, 2017 in Meherpur chief judicial magistrate court. The court directed the Meherpur police to rescue Ripon and submit report.
After a long investigation, police filed final charge sheet in the court on March 1, 2020 to the effect that no trace of Ripon was found.
The court rejected the police’s application and directed Kushtia PBI on March 11, 2020.to look after the missing man and submit the report.
The Kushtia PBI investigated and found trace of Ripon.
SP Shahid Abu Sarwar said Ripon had changed his name to Shariful Islam and was working as a technician (electrical) at a company called Dard Composite Textile Limited in Rajendrapur area of Sreepur upazila in Gazipur district.
Police unearthed Ripon’s new ID card that was shown his identity as Shariful Islam (Date of Birth – 23/06/1994), father – Shahidul Islam, Mother – Bedana Begum, village- Govipur of Meherpur sadar upazila.
With this identity, Ripon married to one Shimla Akhter (20), father Sirajul Islam, mother- Roshna Begum (partner), village Manmath Kuthipara, village- Sundarganj, district- Gaibandha on March 10, 2020 where he has a 6-month-old son.
On February 20, a PBI team from Kushtia raided the place and arrested Ripon.
Investigation Officer (IO) Moniruzzaman of the case said Ripon today (Tuesday) testified under Section 164 in the court of Meherpur Judicial Magistrate Tariqul Islam. Where all he have confessed.
After recording his statement, the court sent him to jail.
Meanwhile, after ‘rescuing’ Ripon, his family rushed to the Meherpur court from Soccer.

Ripon’s father Monirul Islam, the plaintiff in the case, told reporters that he was saddened by his son’s behavior. The law will now run at its own pace.
Meanwhile, Ripon’s wife Shyamoli Khatun also remarried on March 19, 2020 without getting any trace of Ripon. However, it is known that she has not divorced Ripon.
