A Kushtia court sent the office assistant oৃf Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila sub-register (land) office Jannatul Ferdous Munni who was arrested on Wednesday night with cash Tk 3,1,200 allegedly collected through taking bribe to jail today (Thursday).
District and Session Judge Abu Taher passed the order at about 5.30:pm.
Al-Mujahid Mithu, lawyer of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Kushtia office confirmed.
Munni is the wife of one Shahadat Hossain of East Majampur area of Kushtia town.
Mohammad Zakaria, Deputy Director of Kushtia ACC said they had information about various corruptions in this office. One of the worst forms of corruption here was the allegation of regularly collecting extra tk 1,500 to 2,000 on per document of land registry.
The DD said the ACC team led by Neel Kamal Pal, assistant director of Kushtia ACC raided the office at about 5.30:pm that continued till 9.30:pm.
The ACC team searched the office of office assistant Jannatul Ferdous Munni and recovered Tk 3, 1,200 from her drawer. Munni could not give an acceptable explanation about the source of the money. The recovered money appears to be a bribe. She was handed over to Daulatpur police on the night.
Neel Kamal Pal, assistant director of Kushtia ACC filed a case against the woman under 161 of Anti-corruption law of 1947.
Talking about this, Upazila Sub-Registrar Subrata Kumar Singh said the law will run at its own pace.
