Life of honesty will reach its destined goal, Says Chief Justice

Chief Justice (CJ) Hasan Fayez Siddique said if life is conducted with honesty, it surely will reach its destined goal. Obstacles are a part of life and one has to reach on goal overcoming these. Honesty, dedication and kindness should also be a part of life. If there is proper practice of these in life then a life can never be harmful for anyone.

He told this while addressing at a reception programme in Kushtia on Thursday night. Kushtia District Bar Association arranged the event.

The Chief Justice said when once he started his professional lawyer life from this Kushtia bar, many veteran lawyers helped him that days. Many of them are alive today, many are not. He expressed his immense gratitude to all. He urged everyone to cooperate with each other.

“We need each other’s cooperation at every level of life. There will be many ups and downs in life, you have to be patient, you have to wait in the midst of immersed pursuits, you have to be honest and kind, you have to establish justice. People will try to harm people but they will not lose their morale,” he said.

The CJ emphasised that it is not good job to disrespect ones qualifications.

He said in order make the judiciary successful, there must be rhythm between the bar and the judiciary. Bars and judicial institutions are like bodies and wings.

He further said in his speech, “I will always strive to establish justice for the people of Bangladesh including Kushtia as per my oath.”

CJ mentioned various stories of ups and downs of his life. He also spoke on chapters, including the misfortunes that befell his judicial life. He said some had made him a black chapter in his life as a judge. But he later helped them, even though he was a full-fledged judge. He took no revenge. He thanked The almighty The Creator that no vengeance thinking did engulf his mind.

It may be mentioned that Justice Hasan Foyez Siddiqui was one of the eight judges appointed towards the end of the Awami League regime in 2001. They were not later made permanent in the judiciary when the BNP led Jamaat government took over power. Then, after judgement over a case all the judges were reinstated in 2009.

Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Joint-General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League also lawmaker of Kushtia-3, who was the guest of honor at the reception, said, it’s a history that a son of the Kushtia’s soil first time appointed as Chief Justice.

“It is a matter of great pride and joy for our Kushtia, Hanif went on.

Retired Justice of the Appellate Division Abu Bakar Siddique, Justice Abu Zafar Siddiqui and Justice Dr. Akhtaruzzaman of High Court Division, AKm Sarwar Jahan Badsha, Lawmaker of Kushtoa-1, Barrister Selim Altaf George, Kushtia District Judge Sheikh Abu Taher also present at the programme.
