Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Shoumen Kumar Roy has been sacked from Khulna Range Police for his reported killing three people in broad day light in Kushtia.

At the same time, two committees of inquiry have been formed against him.

Meanwhile, a murder case was filed against him at Kushtia Model Police Station on Sunday night.
On the other hand, his interrogation continued till Sunday night. He may be produced before court today (Monday).

A senior district police official said his remand could be sought for further questioning.

ASI Shoumen opened fire in front of the city’s customs office at around 11:45 am on Sunday, killing three people. The deceased were identified as Asma Khatun, 25, her seven-year-old son Robin and Shakil Hossain, 26.

Shoumen Roy was working in Fultala police station in Khulna. He was hailed at Asba village of  Magura district. He was once working in Kushtia.

The deceased Asma was hailed at Naturia of Kumarkhali upazila in Kushtia. However, she lived in Kushtia. The relationship between Shoumen and Asma has not been confirmed yet, police said. The reason for the murder was also not known too.

However, the woman’s mother and family members said that Asma met Shoumen while working in Kushtia. Soumen married her two years ago.

Meanwhile, ASI Shoumen has been suspended in connection with the murder.
Khulna District Superintendent of Police Mahbub Hasan confirmed the information on Sunday night and said departmental action would be taken against him. Shoumen went to Kushtia on Sunday morning without taking leave from Fultala police station.

A separate investigation committee has been formed under the direction of the DIG of Khulna Range for leaving the workplace without permission and carrying firearms.

Meanwhile, after this incident, various discussions are going on all over the country.
Various data is also coming from Asma’s family. What was the relationship between Asma and Shoumen is still unclear. The police are also not opening their mouths clearly on the issue.
Several police officials said the issue of marriage between them was not yet clear.

Asma’s family is firmly claiming that there was a marital relationship between them.
Meanwhile, the case of Robin, a child victim of murder, has become extremely sensitive to everyone.

Many Kushtia police officials have also expressed their displeasure in this regard. Shoumen did not say much about it during the interrogation.
