Professor Dr Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan has been appointed as new treasurer at Kushtia Islamic University. He is a professor at the Department of Economics of the university.. The appointment was made after a long vacancy of 8 months.
The matter was confirmed in a circular signed by the Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Education Mahmudul Alam on Wednesday by the order of the President and the Chancellor of the University.
According to a circular, advocate Abdul Hamid, President of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh also Chancellor of the University, has appointed him to the post in accordance with Section 12 (1) of the Islamic University Act 1980 Amendment Act 2010. He will fulfill this tenure responsibility for the next 4 years. The President and Chancellor may cancel his appointment at any time if necessary.
Professor Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan had earlier served as the general secretary of the University Teachers Association and Shapla Forum, an organization of progressive teachers. He is currently a member of centrally approved Islamic University Bangabandhu Parishad. He was a student in the Department of Economics at Islamic University. He was the first student of this university to hold such a high position in the same university.
In a brief response, Professor Bhuiyan said, “I was a student here.” I have tried my best to develop education for a long time by becoming a teacher here. This time, His Excellency the President, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Education has given me a big responsibility. I hope I can take the university to the next level with the best service.
He thanked everyone. He said that he will join on Thursday.
Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan was born in Gazipur district on July 1, 1969. He was an accomplished student of the second batch at the Department of Economics at Islamic University.
He had a BA Honors degree from the university in 1991 and first place in the first class in the Masters examination in 1992.
He joined the university on 9 November 1997 as a lecturer. He was promoted to the post of Professor on 12 August 2009. He also served as chairman at the Department of Economics.
