Today 30 Chaitra; last day of Bengali of year. The 1427 BS is taking goodbye as per the infallible law of nature. This day is called Chaitrasankranti. This Chaitra Sankranti is a special folk festival of Bengal. This day contains the ancient traditions of Bengal. With the change of seasons, the year 1428 BS will start tomorrow with new hope.
As per the ritual, Bengali people usually arranges various ceremonies and festivals in a bid farewell to the old year and welcome the New Year. It is another big festival of Bengalis. The followers of traditional religions accept this Chaitra Sankranti as a day of virtue. According to their scriptures and folklore, the day’s bathing, almsgiving, vows, fasting, etc., are considered virtuous deeds.
However, like the last year, the government has imposed a ban on all types of gatherings, including Pahela Baishakh, to prevent coronavirus infection. Strict restrictions have been imposed across the country for 7 days from tomorrow, April 14. In this situation, there is no formality on the occasion of Chaitra Sankranti. There will be no festive mood.
