The proceedings in judiciary during the five days countrywide lock down has been reorganised. The regular court proceedings will not be held. However, the High Court will have a limited range of virtual trials.
Beside, as there is a constitutional obligation, one Magistrate in each Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court and one Magistrate in each Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court shall perform their duties in physical presence following proper hygiene rules.
A separate notification was issued on Sunday night after a discussion led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, judge of the Appellate Division and senior judges of the High Court Division.
A statement issued by the Appellate Division on the order of the Chief Justice said that in the event of an outbreak of Corona Virus (Covid-19), the judicial proceedings of the Appellate Division would be conducted on a limited basis from April 5 to April 11. The chamber court will hold hearings on the most urgent matters from 11 a.m. on Tuesday and Thursday through virtual presence using information technology only.
A division bench will hear on writ, civil and criminal matters and a bench on company and admiralty will hear the affidavit only through virtual presence, according to the statement.
The notification of the lower court said that the activities of the Chief Judicial Magistrate / Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court have been limited and it has been decided not to conduct the activities of all other subordinate courts / tribunals.
