More Tk 540 crore project in historical Mujibnagar

The government has taken a project worth Tk 540 crore to build an international standard memorial and tourism center of the liberation war in the historic Mujibnagar, the place of sunrise of independence.

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque made the remarks while addressing an architectural review meeting of the project ‘Establishment of Mujibnagar Liberation War Memorial Center (Phase II)’ at a tourist motel at Mujibnagar Complex in Meherpur on Thursday (March 18).

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain and State Minister for Culture KM Khalid took part in the meeting virtually.

The Minister said different infrastructures will be constructed so that tourists can come to the historical spot and enjoy the beauty and know the true history of the Liberation War. The project will include bronze sculptures of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and four national leaders. At the same time, a training center and a children’s park will be set up along with the construction of the oath-taking sculpture of the first government of Bangladesh, diorama, panorama, sculpture of the liberation war, garden and mural.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain said the Mujibnagar Memorial Center is going to be very attractive through this project. Various trainees including basic training of BCS officers will come here. The new generation will come to Mujibnagar and realize the war of liberation.

State Minister for Culture KM Khalid suggested including a presentation on the history of the Liberation War through light and sound shows and a holographic presentation of Bangabandhu on March 7. He spoke of the importance of preserving the environment.
