Four officials, including a DGM of Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samiti, have been suspended in connection with the death of a lineman who was electrocuted while working on an electric pole.
Kushtia Palli Bidyut Samiti general manager (GM) engineer Sohrab Ali Biswas said the action was taken against them due to the death.
The suspended are DGM Enamul Haque, AGM Mohidul Islam Mehedi, junior engineer Ariful Islam and lineman Monir Hossain have been suspended.
Lineman Dilu Mia died after being electrocuted while working on a electricity pole in Kushtia’s Mirpur upazila on Thursday afternoon. His body was hanging on the pole about hour. Later Mirpur Fire Service recovered the body.
A three-member inquiry committee headed by DGM (Technical) Ranjan Kumar Ghosh was formed.
According to the primary information of the committee, lineman Dilu Mia was raised on a pole to carry out repair work without ensuring the connection of the power transmission line cut off.
The investigation report was sent to Dhaka on Sunday. The higher authority will take the final decision in this regard, said GM.
The deceased was identified as Dilu Mia, son of Abdur Rahim of Baulchara Masterpara village under Ishwardi upazila of Pabna. He was working as a lineman in the Mirpur zonal office of Kushtia Palli Bidyut.
