Complaint has been lodged against a Kushtia Upazila Assistant Education Officer, an assistant teacher and two buyers for embezzling money by secretly selling an abandoned school building.
Shahidul Islam, headmaster of Shanpukuria Government Primary School in Kushtia’s Kumarkhali Upazila, lodged the complaint with the Kumarkhali Police Station on Sunday.
The accused are Kumarkhali Upazila Assistant Education Officer Selina Khatun, the school’s assistant teacher Harun ur Rashid Askar and two buyers Yasin Ali Biswas and Bachchu Sheikh of Shanpukuria.
In the written complaint, Shahidul Islam mentioned that the school has a four-shed semi-detached house with 4,500 bricks, estimated value of Tk 36,000, 11 bins of tin, worth Tk 40,000, 30 cement poles worth Tk 12,000 and a house. The price of used wood is Tk 30,000, wood and bamboo is Tk 32,000 and the total estimated value is Tk 1.5 lakh.
Haroon ur Rashid Askar, the school’s assistant teacher, secretly sold it without informing the headmaster, president pf the school managing committee.
Bacchu Sheikh vandalized the school building on the night of March 6 and took it his home. They went to Bacchu Sheikh’s house and saw the materials of the building. At that time, Bacchu Sheikh told them that these had been bought from Harun ur Rashid Askar.
After collecting money, Harun sent it to Assistant Education Officer Selina Khatun.
Kumarkhali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mojibur Rahman said the headmaster of the school had lodged a written complaint with the police station.
He said as the incident was included in the schedule of the ACC case, it has been recommended to the Deputy Director of the Kushtia District Anti-Corruption Commissioner.
