Joint General Secretary of ruling Bangladesh Awami League also lawmaker of Kushtia Sadar-3 constituency Mahbubul Alam Hanif said the opinion of neutral independent citizens is an important supporting force for development and progress. The inactivity of these individuals involved in intellectual activities often hinders progress and advancement in the decade.
Mahbubul Alam Hanif said this while exchanging views with prominent citizens of Kushtia last evening (January 4). From this event he announced the formation of a civic committee consisting of eminent citizens of the district. He presided over the ceremony.
Primarily a two member committee has been declared where former Principal of Kushtia Medical College Dr. SM Mustanjid made convener and former Treasurer of Kushtia Islamic University Professor of Law Dr. Selim announced as member-secretary.
Hanif said the strong and independent intellectual class that was emerging in Bangladesh during the pre-1971 period played a strong role in the liberation war of Bangladesh. Later they were elevated in different periods of the country. Their role must continue.
Hanif urged the citizens to form research-based views on the development of Kushtia. He also called for well-thought-out views on various issues and preparation of summaries if necessary.
