Kushtia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Aslam Hossain has said the society will be called a developed only when every person in the society achieves socio-economic capability. It is not possible for one person to build a developed society. Here everyone’s combined efforts are needed.
He said the present government has been working for the welfare of the poor and backward people of the country following the path shown by the father of the nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He addressed at a discussion meeting held in front of the office of the district social services department on Sunday morning on the occasion of National Social Service Day. The day is being observed this time with theme of building a society free from hunger and poverty, providing services and opportunities.
Rokhsana Parveen, Deputy Director, District Social Services Department, presided over the programme.
Ahmed Sadat, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, Md. Murad Hossain, Assistant Director, District Social Services Department, Zahirul Islam, City Social Service Officer and Abu Raihan, Sadar Upazila Social Service Officer spoke among others.
At the end of the programme, 15 patients with cancer and incurable diseases were given checks and other assistance.
Later, a cultural programme was held with the participation of students of Kushtia Government Children’s Family (orphan-Girls).
