The ruling Awami League joint general secretary and lawmaker of Kushtia-3 Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif once again vowed the war against traders in the name of religion. He said in a Facebook post that there is no room for compromise with the fundamentalists. From the very beginning, Hanif has been a fierce critic of this religious group, a sect that misinterprets religion. He is speaking out against this unnecessary community which is doing anti-politics in the name of religion and pushing the country’s sacred hard-earned independence into debate. This group has also attacked and damaged the sculpture of Father of the nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This has happened in Hanif’s own constituency.
Over the issue Hanif went on a face book post today (December 15). He posted the words he told today (December 15) at a discussion meeting organized by Swadhinata Satantra Ibtedai Madrasa Teachers ‘Council titled’ Consciousness of the “Liberation War and the Present Context: what should be done by the teacher’s society” ’at the National Press Club
The statement from Hamif’s Facebook page is as follows: Peace can be discussed as part of running the state, but as a party, the Awami League has no chance to compromise with the fundamentalist militants. The Awami League is not willing to accept any of their demands.
Today at the National Press Club, Swadhinata Independent Ibtedai Madrasa Teachers ‘Council held a discussion meeting titled’ Consciousness of the Liberation War and the current context, what should be done by the teachers ‘society’.
After 50 years of independence, there is voice on constitution, flags. Anti-independence activists are attacking the constitution on the pretext of religion. We have earned independence of the country by fighting, not to listen to the bragging of the Razakars. No such demand will be accepted if the constitution is tarnished.
The sculpture is being misinterpreted. There are sculptures in many Muslim countries of the world. A class of religious traders make jokes in the name of Waz Mahfil (preaching). They are looting millions of money by fooling the religious people in the name of Waz mahfil.
What sign of peace can be found in the language they (Islamists) are speaking today in the name of Islam? Speaking of which language, which of these civilizations can be found? They are talking like extremist terrorists.
Mahbubul-Alam Hanif said the national anthem should be sung in every madrasa and said, “Don’t go too far with religion.” Secularism does not mean irreligion. Islam is the religion of peace. The fundamentalists are talking like extremists, terrorists, militants. Every madrasa has to sing the national anthem as per the constitution. The national flag must be hoisted.
Nabi Karim (peace be upon him) never took pictures, why do you take pictures? They (the misinterpreters of the religion) verbally excuse the hadith, the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not do it, he did not do it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) never got on a plane, why do you get on? He did not get in the car, why do you get? Islam never said that. Islam is a modern religion.
Besides, the Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has assured of a better solution on the current debate on installation of sculpture of father of the nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. He told it after a meeting with some leaders are leading Qaumi Education in the country.
He said government can solve all problems through dialogue. It can reach in a consensus.
“We can reach a consensus on all the talks that are coming out through their talks,” he said. They also hold in their mind that the greatest Bengali of all time is the father of our nation. They also acknowledge that our Honorable Prime Minister is a pure Muslim. She is fulfilling her religious responsibilities. ‘
Lastly he said we will not go beyond the constitution and even we will not hurt anyone’s religious feelings. We will end through discussion. We are discussing whether the sculpture will remain as it is or not.
We said we would end it through negotiations. There will be no sculptures – I never said that. I will end these through discussion. I am saying clearly, no decision has been made that the sculpture will not be there.
