4 Bangbandhu sculpture vandals placed on remand

A court today (Tuesday) has granted four-day remand to four suspects on charges of vandalizing sculpture under construction of founder father of the nation Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Kushtia Senior Judicial Magistrate Enamul Haque passed the order. Investigation officer of the case, Kushtia Model Police Station Inspector Nishikanta Das, remanded two Madasa students for 10 days and two teachers for 7 days.

They are Abu Bakkar alias Mithun, 19, Md. Sabuj Islam alias Nahid, 20, Al Amin 26), and Md Abu Yusuf, 31.

The court granted five days remand to Abu Bakkar alias Mithun and Sabuj Islam while four days to Yusuf Ali and Alamin.

Abu Bakar and Sabuj Islam are students of Qawmi Madrasa named Ibn Masood (R) Madrasa while Al Amin Hossain and Yusuf Ali are teachers of the institution.

The sculpture under construction of Bangabandhu was vandalized at the intersection of Panch Rastar in Kushtia town around 2 am on Friday. A case was filed against four persons at Kushtia Model Police Station under Sections 15 (3) of the Special Powers Act and Sections 426 and 34 of the Penal Code for their involvement.
