The election of five members of executive committee of Kushtia District Shilpakala Academy has been held peacefully on Saturday.

Voting took place at the under construction building of the Academy in the town. The vote was started from 8:am and closed at 4:pm.

Voters cast their ballots by washing their hands and wearing masks following the body distance.

In the declared results, Professor Nasir Uddin won with 376 votes, Zafar Ahmad 371 votes, Jamal Uddin Khan 357 votes, Zillur Rahim 337 votes and Alam Ara Jui got win with 226 votes.

Mrinal Kanti Dey, Deputy Secretary also Deputy Director of local government wing of Kushtia District Administration, the returning officer for the election, announced result after counting.

Earlier, Amirul Islam unopposed elected as general secretary. At the same time, Ashraf Uddin Naju and Abdur Rashid Chowdhury were elected at the post of two vice-presidents unopposed in the three-year executive committee of 2021-23.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kushtia is officially president of the body.

DC Aslam Hossain also visited during the election.
