A mother got tragic death being pushed by her drug addicted son at Pragpur village in Kushtia’s Daulatpur upazila on Thursday.

Citing locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Daulatpur Police Station Zahurul Alam said Mamun Ali, 40, son of late Abul Hossain, demanded money from his mother Jinnatun Nesha, 72, in the morning for buying drug. When the mother refused to pay, he started arguing.

At one stage, the son pushed his mother and threw her to the ground, killing mother Jinnatun Nesha on the spot.

Later, the locals caught Mamun and handed him over to the police.

Locals told to police that Mamun used to get drunk.  Even due to this, his wife has left home with three children. Every day he would ask his mother for money, said the OC.

Another brother of the accused filed a case with Daulatpur station.

On Friday, a court sent Mamun to jail.
