The government has completed the work of identifying all the potential tourist spots across the country in an ongoing initiative to expand the tourism sector of the country. To this end, the tourism corporation has identified more than 800 tourist spots in 8 divisions of the country, the parliamentary committee meeting was informed.
The information was given at the 15th meeting of the Standing Committee on the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism of the Parliament on Sunday (October 25).
The meeting was held at the Sangsad Bhaban under the presiding of RM Ubaidul Moktadir Chowdhury.
The meeting discussed in detail the 'Bangladesh Travel Agency (Registration and Control) (Amendment) Act-2013’, the use of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism's budget for 2020-2021 and the steps taken by the ministry to prevent the global corona epidemic.
According to meeting sources, Bangladesh Tourism Corporation has already identified more than 800 tourist spots in 8 divisions. In the current fiscal year 2020-2021, Tk. 60.21 crore has been allocated in the Annual Development Program (ADP) under 8 projects under implementation in favor of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation.
