5 people were killed in road accidents in Magura and Jhenaidah, of them, 2 people were killed in Jhenaidah, and 3 in Magura.
Early today (Tuesday) around 5 a.m., two banana traders were killed when their pickup van crashed into a stationary truck at the Saduhati intersection in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila. Another trader was injured during the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Anisur Rahman from Bara Kauniya village in Saltha Upazila, Faridpur, and Faruk Matubbar from Bhawal village in the same upazila. The injured, Matiar Rahman, is from the same village and is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital.
Eyewitnesses reported that early in the morning, four traders, including the driver, were heading to Meherpur district from Faridpur to buy bananas in a pickup van. While on the Jhenaidah-Chuadanga highway in Saduhati, the speeding pickup van lost control and crashed into the back of a truck, killing two people on the spot.
Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shaheen Uddin confirmed the incident.
Meanwhile, three people, including two friends, were killed in separate road accidents in Magura. At around 8:45 p.m. on Monday (September 23), two friends riding a motorcycle were hit by a private car in the Kashinathpur Signboard area on the Magura-Jhenaidah road. The victims have been identified as Sani Biswas (20), son of Pikul Biswas from Gauricharanpur in Sadar Upazila, and Muhib Biswas (18), son of Kamruzzaman Biswas from the same village.
Police reported that the two friends were returning home from Magura town on a motorcycle when they were hit by a private car, killing them on the spot.
In another incident, a 14-year-old boy named Faruk Hossain was killed when his autorickshaw overturned in the Narihati area of Sadar Upazila. Faruk was the son of Zahid Miah from Narihati village.
Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahangir Hossain of Magura Highway Police confirmed the deaths of all three victims.
