The interim government has removed 53 Zilla Parishad Chairman, 323 mayor of Municipality and 495 upazila Parishad Chairman from their posts across the country.
The Ministry of Local Government issued separate orders in this regard Today, Monday.
According to the orders, the Deputy Commissioners (DC) will take charge in place of the removed Zilla Parishad Chairman, and the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) will assume responsibilities for the removed upazila chairman.
Earlier, on Wednesday (August 14), the ministry stated that due to the ongoing situation, many Upazila Parishad chairpersons were continuously absent from their workplaces, and their presence could not be confirmed despite efforts to communicate with them. In this situation, to ensure the continuation of public services and administrative activities in these Upazila Parishads, the concerned Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) have been temporarily vested with full financial and administrative powers of the Upazila Parishad chairpersons until further notice.
