The International Criminal Tribunal sentenced four people of Jessore to death in the case of crimes against humanity.
On Sunday (June 25), the chairman of the International Criminal Tribunal, Justice Md. A three-member bench led by Shahinur Islam announced the verdict. The other two members of the tribunal are Justice Md. Abu Ahmed Jamadar and Justice KM Hafizul Alam.
The accused are Bagharpara Md. Amjad Hossain Molla, Wahab Molla, Mahtab Biswas and Fossiar Rahman Molla.
This is the 52nd judgment of the Tribunal. During the announcement of the verdict, the only accused was arrested in this case. Amjad Hossain Molla was sitting in the dock.
On May 11, the presentation of arguments against the four defendants in the 1971 crime against humanity ended.
The investigation of this case started on April 4, 2016, and ended on April 16, 2018. The names of the accused are also in the list of Razakars given by the Jessore District Commissioner.
There are four charges against the accused. They are - Complaint-1, on 3 Bhadra, 1971 at around 12:30 p.m. of North Chandpur village of Bagharpara police station. Moinuddin alias Maina was arrested from his house and taken to Premchara Razakar camp. Amjad Hossain Molla and his associates. After being held there for three days and tortured, on 6 Bhadra, Maina was shot and eventually killed while standing next to the well in the Deodaru garden of Vijay Dash of Khurda village at around 12 noon by Amjad Hossain Molla.
Allegation-2, on July 20, 1971, at around 1 pm Amjad Hossain Molla and his associates from Bagharpara Khajura Bazar took Dr Naufel Uddin Biswas to Premchara Razakar camp. The next day at 12 noon, he was shot dead in the field of Mohiram village of Thana Sadar.
Allegation-3, Amjad Hossain Molla and his accomplices abducted Surat Ali Biswas and Moktar Biswas, supporters of the freedom fighters, from their house at around 8-9 am on September 20, 1971, and took them to Premchara Razakar camp. After three days of torture there, on September 23 around 12 noon, Vijay Das was standing next to the well in the Deodaru garden of Khurda village, and they shot him dead and threw the body into the well.
