Three construction workers have received tragic end of life after a pile of rod fell from top of an under-construction building in Kushtia.
The incident took place at 5:pm on Sunday at Narikel Tola area of the town.
Mahfuzul Haque Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kushtia Model Police Station, stated that the building is a 10-story structure, and construction was underway on the 6th floor.
The workers were lifting heavy rods manually, tying them with ordinary ropes instead of using a tower crane, OV carried on.
When the rod reached the 4th floor, the rope slipped from the hands of the workers above, causing the piles of rods to fall on five workers below.
Two workers died on the spot, and another succumbed at Kushtia General Hospital.
The names and identities of the workers have not yet been confirmed instantly.
Abul Kashem, the owner of the under-construction building, fled from the scene after the incident.
