Two people of Malitha group were killed and at least 22 people were injured on both sides in the clash between Sardar and Malitha group over grazing land by cows in Daulatpur of Kushtia.
The clash took place in the Bhurkapara Hatkhola area of the Moricha Union of the Upazila on Wednesday afternoon.
The deceased are Shariful Malitha (45), son of the deceased Rehmat Malitha and Bajlu Malitha (42), who is the son of the deceased Ghetu Malitha of the same area.
Police and spectators said that the cow of Farid Khasaru of Sardar Group, who was killed in the clash on Wednesday around 4:30 PM, ate the jute on the land of Bajlu Malitha. In this occurrence, the people of the two sides clashed at a point of discussion.
In the clash, Shariful Malitha and Bajlu Malitha were killed on the spot by bullets and sharp weapons. At least 22 people including Asad Sardar, Shahajuddin Sardar, Warish Sardar, Farid Khasaru, Sagar Sardar, and Muza Sardar were injured. The injured are admitted to various hospitals including Daulatpur and 4 people have been referred to Kushtia General Hospital in critical condition.
Daulatpur police station OC Mujibur Rahman admitted the truth of the incident and said that some people have been detained for questioning in the incident. He said that multiple police teams are working at the spot in order to control the situation.
