Ten year old Chandni, a baby of Banagram in Khoksa upazila of Kushtia went to Dhaka to work as a housemaid. She returned home after 9 months with wounds all over her body.

The sick child was admitted to Khoksa upazila health complex on Wednesday night and she is undergoing treatment there.

The baby is the daughter of Tamiz Uddin Tojo of the village.

According to the child’s family, Chandni was sent to work at Necha Khatun’s house in Basabo area of Dhaka. Necha’s father Masuduzzaman Rantu was of the same village settled to send Chandni in Dhaka.

“I sent my baby to work as I lost work during the Corona on the month of May, 2020,” Tojo, father of the baby told who worked at machineries factory in Khoksa upazila town. Tojo has two more children.

Tojo said a few days after moving to Dhaka, the child was cut off from her family.  Tojo who was something frightened, informed the matter to the people of the village after he failed to communicate with his daughter despite various attempts.

Later, under the pressure of few villagers, Nesha brought Chandni to Khoksa after 9 months. Necha went back to Dhaka leaving Chandi to her father Masuduzzaman Rantu’s house at upazila town on Tuesday afternoon. Then the child was handed over to her grandmother Mojirun.

Mojirun first found marks of injuries on the baby’s body. She brought the baby to Bongram village.

The villagers became angry seeing the physical condition of the child. Chandni was then taken to the Upazila Health Building.

Medical officer on duty at the emergency ward Dr Shamim Mahmud, said the girl had bruises on her body. She was also very weak in physically. Seeing the condition, she was admitted. Now the treatment is going on.

Lying on hospital bed, Chandni removes clothes from her own body and shows the scars caused by the housewife’s cruel torture. She said that housewife Nesha started torturing her four days after she reached her home in Dhaka. After beating her, she would have been tied with cord and left lying on the floor every night.

Nesha’s father Masuduzzaman Rantu said that he thought the matter of ‘torturing’ is a conspiracy. The girl was taken from his home by her grandmother on Tuesday. He has made a video on this issue. The child already had rot disease. She owned some marks.

Officer-in-charge of Khoksa Police Station Kamruzzaman Talukder said the incident took place in Dhaka. The baby is now admitted to Khoksa Hospital. He has come to knows the matter. He sent an officer to investigate the matter.

If anyone complains, necessary action will be taken.
